Stakeholders of the Labour Party (LP) in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, have reaffirmed their support for Governor Alex Otti and constituted three strategic committees to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued after a strategic meeting chaired by the Chairman of the stakeholders’ forum and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba.
The stakeholders commended Governor Otti for what they described as the transformation taking place across Abia State, particularly the execution of key projects in Nsulu, including the Abia International Airport, the Umuomaiukwu Smart School and ongoing road infrastructure projects.
They resolved to promote unity within the Labour Party, stressing that all members, irrespective of when they joined the party, should enjoy equal rights, mutual respect and opportunities to contribute to the party’s growth.
The forum also pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation and sensitisation across Nsulu communities to promote awareness of the achievements of the present administration and consolidate support for the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting all Labour Party candidates during the forthcoming elections, noting that the party’s success would depend on unity, collective responsibility and coordinated action.
They welcomed the assurance by the Chief of Staff that compensation for individuals affected by the Abia International Airport land acquisition had been approved by the state government and expressed confidence that eligible beneficiaries would receive their entitlements.
The meeting also commended the government’s efforts to improve electricity supply in Nsulu, particularly in Umunna Nsulu, while encouraging residents to take advantage of the state’s empowerment and capacity-building programmes, including TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy and the Abia Smart School Initiative.
To drive its resolutions, the forum established three committees: the Empowerment Committee, the Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee, and the Mobilisation Committee.
The committees were mandated to coordinate government empowerment opportunities, promote voter registration and Permanent Voter Card collection, strengthen grassroots party structures and mobilise support for Labour Party candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders further appealed to the state government to accelerate ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects in Nsulu, especially strategic road projects, to boost socio-economic development in the area.
They also urged party members and supporters to embrace peaceful, issue-based campaigns and uphold democratic values throughout the electioneering period, while expressing appreciation to Pastor Caleb Ajagba for his leadership and commitment to the development of Nsulu and Abia State.
