Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, has commenced a thank-you tour of key stakeholders in Anambra State with a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Awka Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Gibson Nwosu (Eze Uzu II of Awka).

The visit forms part of activities marking his transition to a new phase of his career following his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

During the visit, AIG Orutugu expressed appreciation to the traditional institution and the people of Awka for their unwavering support and cooperation during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Anambra State.

He commended the monarch for his commitment to promoting peace and security, noting that the achievements recorded by the Anambra State Police Command were made possible through the collective efforts of the state government, traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies and residents.

The senior police officer stressed that effective policing requires sustained collaboration between law enforcement agencies, traditional institutions and members of the public. He therefore appealed for continued support to strengthen security and ensure lasting peace across Anambra State.

Responding, the traditional ruler of Awka Kingdom, Igwe Gibson Nwosu, congratulated AIG Orutugu on his promotion, describing it as well deserved.

The monarch commended the AIG for his professionalism, dedication and outstanding leadership, which he said contributed significantly to improving security and public confidence in policing during his tenure in Anambra State.

He wished the police chief greater success and divine guidance as he assumes higher responsibilities in the Nigeria Police Force.
