The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that a committee has been constituted to meet with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as part of efforts to integrate him and his supporters into the Rainbow Coalition in the state.
Speaking during his monthly media chat with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike revealed that the committee is headed by former federal lawmaker, Magnus Abe.
According to the FCT minister, the committee will engage Governor Fubara on the modalities for bringing him and his political supporters into the coalition, describing the move as a step towards strengthening political unity in Rivers State.
Wike disclosed that Governor Fubara has already given the committee a date for the meeting, which he said indicates positive progress in the reconciliation process.
“The governor has already given the committee a date to meet with him,” Wike said, expressing optimism that the engagement would yield fruitful outcomes for the state’s political future.
Commenting on the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, the former governor insisted that he did not suffer any political loss during the face-off.
Wike maintained that decisions taken during the crisis were driven by political realities, adding that political survival and continued relevance were among the reasons he could not support Governor Fubara for a second term.
According to him, politics requires strategic decisions, and every action taken during the crisis was aimed at protecting the interests and future of his political structure.
