The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has commenced the training of Education Management Information System (EMIS) personnel, head teachers and education officers on the use of a newly developed Online Attendance App aimed at improving accountability and efficiency in the state’s basic education sector.
Declaring the one-day training open in Awka, the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, described the initiative as a significant milestone in advancing the digital transformation agenda of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration.
She explained that the Online Attendance App is a locally developed digital solution designed to capture real-time staff attendance, eliminate ghost workers, ensure accurate payroll administration and enhance service delivery in public primary schools across the state.
According to Dr. Anyadiegwu, the application reflects the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology to strengthen education governance, improve teacher accountability and promote effective monitoring within the basic education system.
She commended Governor Soludo for his sustained investment in the education sector, describing the introduction of the digital attendance platform as another step towards building a smart, technology-driven education system in Anambra State.
The ASUBEB chairman urged participants to take full advantage of the training by mastering the application to ensure its successful implementation, warning that while diligence and commitment would be rewarded, any attempt to undermine the initiative would attract appropriate sanctions.
She also praised the technical team behind the development of the application, expressing confidence that its deployment would enhance education management and reinforce Anambra’s position as a leader in digital education administration.

Also speaking, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Henrietta Muo, encouraged participants to actively engage in the training, noting that the effective use of the Online Attendance App would strengthen transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in the administration of basic education across the state.
