Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to use his influence to ensure a peaceful, free and credible governorship election in Osun State.

Davido made the appeal during a news conference ahead of the August 15 governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke, his uncle, is seeking re-election under the Accord Party.

Governor Uzodimma was recently appointed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Chairman of the party’s National Campaign Council for the election.

Addressing the governor, Davido urged him to support a peaceful electoral process that would allow the people of Osun State to freely choose their preferred candidate without fear or intimidation.

The singer said his appeal was also influenced by his personal ties to Imo State, noting that his wife, Chioma, is from the state.

He said although he could not verify reports alleging possible interference in the election, he believed it was important to appeal for peace and respect for the democratic process.

Davido also called on political leaders, party supporters and residents to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the election, stressing that no political ambition is worth the loss of lives.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, with political parties intensifying campaigns ahead of the poll.
