Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, has joined traditional rulers, government officials and other dignitaries at the Iwa Ji (New Yam) Festival in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The colourful cultural celebration was hosted by the Traditional Ruler of Abatete Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Igwe (Engr.) Chinyelugo Emeka Efobi, and featured displays of Igbo culture, tradition and communal unity.
The event attracted government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, business leaders and indigenes of Abatete, who gathered to celebrate the community’s cultural heritage and reaffirm their commitment to peace and development.
Among those present were the Executive Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Law Mefor, traditional rulers, community leaders and other prominent personalities from within and outside the state.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, participants emphasised the importance of preserving Igbo cultural values and passing them on to younger generations.
The gathering also highlighted the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity and grassroots development, in line with the cultural and community development objectives of the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
The Iwa Ji festival concluded with renewed calls for the preservation of Igbo traditions and stronger collaboration between government, traditional institutions and communities in advancing development across Anambra State.
