Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have welcomed their third child, a baby girl, prompting a small shift in the line of succession to the British throne.

The baby, who was born on August 3 at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, and whose name has not yet been publicly announced, joins big brothers August and Ernest. Although Eugenie’s children do not have royal titles, they remain in the line of succession.

Princess Eugenie is currently 12th in line, followed by August, Ernest, and her newborn daughter, who now takes the 15th spot. Her arrival moves Prince Edward and everyone after him down one place.

It’s worth noting that the baby’s spot in the line of succession is not affected by the fact that she was born outside the UK. And thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, she would not be overtaken in the line of succession by any future younger brother.

Long Line Of Sucession

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in 2022, King Charles III ascended to the throne and Prince William became heir apparent, placing Prince George next in line.

Being the eldest son of King Charles III and Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince William is the heir to the British throne

Princess Charlotte of Wales was born on May 2, 2015. The daughter of Prince Williams and Catherine, Princess of Wales is the next one in line for the British throne, after her brother, Prince George.
