The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 64-year-old man, identified as Abubakar Aliyu, over the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl at his medicine shop in Arawa Quarters, Gombe State.
Aliyu, who is reportedly a grandfather, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother.
According to the NSCDC, the suspect was apprehended after the complaint and reportedly admitted to the allegation during questioning by security operatives on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The suspect allegedly told investigators that the teenager visited his shop at about 11 p.m. to purchase medicine, after which he allegedly lured her to remain at the premises and sexually abused her on three occasions.
He reportedly admitted giving the girl between ₦200 and ₦400 after the alleged incidents.
The suspect was also quoted as attributing his actions to “temptation” and expressing regret over the alleged offence.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, CSC Saad Buhari, who paraded the suspect, said investigations are ongoing.
Authorities are expected to take further legal action as the investigation progresses.
