The 2026 August Meeting in Enugu State has received a boost from Amstel Malta, as the brand joined thousands of Igbo women at the annual cultural homecoming and supported initiatives aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs.

The event, held on August 8, brought together women from across Nigeria and the diaspora to reconnect with their communities, deliberate on issues affecting society and contribute to community development.

Prominent dignitaries at the Enugu August Meeting included the First Lady of Enugu State, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, and the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Ngozi Enyi.

Speaking at the event, Corporate Affairs Manager, East, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Joy Egolum, said the company’s participation reflected its commitment to supporting its consumers, communities and stakeholders.

She noted that the August Meeting represents an important platform for celebrating the resilience and contributions of women to society.

Egolum said, “We believe in winning with Nigeria and winning with our communities,” stressing that the company would continue to identify with initiatives that are important to its consumers and stakeholders.

Beyond the cultural celebration, Amstel Malta supported a women empowerment initiative of the Enugu State Government focused on strengthening small businesses.

As part of the initiative, grants were presented to two women entrepreneurs from different senatorial zones in the state to enable them expand and sustain their businesses.

Senior Brand Manager, Amstel Malta, Francis Obiajulu, said the initiative aligned with the brand’s “Be Your Best” campaign, which promotes resilience, excellence and personal development.

According to him, the values represented by the August Meeting  commitment, community and resilience  align with the brand’s commitment to encouraging Nigerians to strive for excellence.

Obiajulu said the company’s support was aimed at ensuring that its participation went beyond celebration and hospitality to providing tangible assistance to women and small business owners.

The 2026 August Meeting featured colourful traditional attire, cultural displays and community gatherings, while Amstel Malta’s involvement combined celebration of Igbo heritage with support for women’s economic empowerment.

The brand reaffirmed its commitment to meaningful community engagement, noting that supporting people’s aspirations and livelihoods remains an important part of its relationship with the communities it serves.
