Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the recently concluded governorship election in the state.
Governor Otti also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders for what he described as the peaceful conduct of the election.
In a statement personally signed by him, Otti congratulated Adeleke and the people of Osun State, describing the orderly participation of voters and the peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the poll as a positive sign for Nigeria’s democracy.
The Abia governor acknowledged that there were reported irregularities during the election but said the overall conduct demonstrated citizens’ commitment to peaceful coexistence and democratic participation.
He said the successful election had further strengthened democratic governance and reinforced the role of the people in choosing their leaders.
Otti urged Adeleke to remain courageous and focused as he begins his second term in office, charging him to prioritise people-centred governance and policies that would improve the lives of residents of Osun State.
“As an Abia grandson, we stand with you and your state in the shared vision of building stronger institutions and delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” Otti stated.
The governor also expressed optimism that the renewed mandate would provide Adeleke with an opportunity to consolidate his administration’s development efforts and deepen democratic governance in Osun State.
