A yet-to-be-identified man was crushed to death in front of the OPIC corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday after he was reportedly knocked down by a speeding truck.
The victim, a young adult male, was attempting to cross the expressway from the Lagos-bound section to the roadside along the OPIC corridor when the truck rammed into him.
The incident occurred a few minutes before 1pm, leaving the victim’s body scattered across the road as vehicles struggled to navigate the gory scene.
The truck driver was said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident.
An eyewitness, Nojeem, told PUNCH Metro, “He wanted to cross. The truck knocked him down, rolled over him and sped off. This is a busy road, and we have lost many lives here.
“This is why the government should provide a pedestrian bridge to prevent avoidable loss of lives.”
