Anambra South senatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, has visited the Chairman of Jezco Group, Chief Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, following his safe return after spending 10 days in captivity.

Onunkwo, who is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, paid the visit to Ezeokafor at his country home in Ekwulobia, accompanied by members of his delegation.

He described the visit as a personal gesture of solidarity, citing his long-standing relationship with the Jezco Group chairman in business and family circles.

Onunkwo said the abduction of Ezeokafor was not only an attack on an individual but also a setback for the wider business community in Anambra State.

He described Ezeokafor as an important contributor to the state’s economy, noting that his businesses had provided employment opportunities and expanded across different parts of the country.

“The attack on Chief Ezeokafor was an attack on the entire Anambra business community,” Onunkwo said.

The NDC candidate also described the Jezco chairman as a pioneer who had inspired other Igbo entrepreneurs to venture into manufacturing and business.

He said Ezeokafor demonstrated early that indigenous businesses could produce and market Nigerian products successfully across the country.

Onunkwo called for stronger collaboration among business leaders, traditional and community stakeholders and security agencies to create a safer environment for investors, workers and families in Anambra.

He stressed that improved security was essential to sustaining economic growth and encouraging further investment in the state.

Responding, Chief Ezeokafor expressed gratitude to God for his safe return and appreciated individuals and groups who stood by him and his family throughout the ordeal.

The visit, according to Onunkwo, was also aimed at reaffirming solidarity with the business community and encouraging collective efforts towards a safer and more economically vibrant Anambra State.
