Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has expressed confidence that Nigeria would experience significant transformation if his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, eventually becomes President.

B-Red made the remark during a 2023 interview on the Echoroom podcast, which resurfaced on social media on Tuesday, days after his father secured a second term as Osun governor.

Adeleke, who contested the August 15, 2026 governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, with 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815 votes.

In the resurfaced interview, B-Red was asked whether he believed his father could eventually become Nigeria’s President.

Although the singer acknowledged that people had been discussing the possibility, he said he would rather his father stayed away from the presidency because of the pressure it could bring to the family.

“People are talking about it, but I don’t want him to be. I don’t want no stress on me, your daddy, I beg. Your father is the president; he did not do this.”

However, B-Red said his knowledge of his father’s personality gave him confidence that Adeleke would prioritise the welfare of Nigerians if he eventually became president.

“But I know my dad, he has such a good heart, but if he does become the president, this country go change oh,” he said.

The singer further maintained that his father would focus on addressing the needs of Nigerians rather than using public office as an avenue to accumulate wealth.

“It will choke in every aspect. Because he’s not, he’s going to do everything that people want him to do. You know, I’ve been rich for a long time, so we’re not coming here to steal money, bro. I’m coming here to help people, you understand?” he said.
