Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe has left Portuguese champions Benfica to join Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, where she will team up with fellow Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Al Hilal until the summer of 2028 after her Benfica contract expired.

Ucheibe spent six years with Benfica, making 91 appearances and helping the club maintain its dominance in Portuguese women’s football. She also won several domestic honours during her trophy-laden spell in Lisbon.

The versatile midfielder previously played for Swedish club Assi IF and Nigerian side Nasarawa Amazons before moving to Benfica, where she established herself as a key player.

Her move to Al Hilal will see her reunite with Oshoala, who has been with the Saudi club since leaving American side Bay FC last year.

Ucheibe made her Super Falcons debut in 2022 and has since earned 32 caps, scoring three goals. She was also part of Nigeria’s squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Known for her energy, physicality and versatility, Ucheibe can operate in midfield or at centre-back and will hope to make an immediate impact as Al Hilal seek to challenge Al Nassr for supremacy in Saudi women’s football.
