The Ebonyi State Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced Monday, September 7, as the official resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The directive applies to all approved public, private and faith-based nursery, primary and secondary schools across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas.

The State Commissioner for Education, Primary and Secondary, Dr. Donatus Ilang, made the announcement in a statement issued by the Ministry.

The Ministry directed school administrators, teaching and non-teaching staff to report for duty on Monday, while boarding students are expected to return to their hostels on Sunday, September 6, ahead of academic activities.

Parents and guardians have been urged to ensure that their children and wards resume promptly and comply with approved school dress standards.

Private school proprietors were also directed to operate in line with the approved state school calendar, national curriculum and other guidelines issued by the Ministry.

The Ministry said monitoring teams would be deployed across the state from the first day of resumption to ensure compliance with the directive.

Dr. Ilang said the state government remained committed to improving educational standards and called on parents, educators, community leaders and other stakeholders to support a smooth and productive start to the new academic session.
