The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Nigerians to overcome anxiety and pressure by making rejoicing, praying and giving thanks a daily habit.
Adeboye gave the advice while preaching at the church’s headquarters in Lagos on Sunday, saying he had discovered that the three practices, when done wholeheartedly, could change a person’s life.
Our correspondent retrieved this on Monday from a report by Church Times Nigeria. There, the cleric, who cited 1 Thessalonians 5:16–17, urged believers to begin each day with joy.
Adeboye said: “When you wake up every morning, rejoice. Praise God. Start your day on a positive note of rejoicing.
Forget about the past. Just rejoice. Wake up with joy and allow the joy of the Lord to dominate your life.”
Adeboye said worrying about the future was unnecessary for those who trusted in God.
“If I am not where I am by my ability, why should I worry about tomorrow? He took care of me yesterday; He will take care of me tomorrow,” he said.
He also urged believers to maintain a regular prayer life rather than allow their problems to overwhelm them.
