The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has fired a fresh salvo at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s potential opponents in the 2027 presidential election, declaring that none of them comes close to the president in quality, competence and merit.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
The former Zamfara State governor, who was appointed DG of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on August 22, was in the state to canvass support for Tinubu’s re-election.
Yari argued that when Tinubu is placed side by side with the politicians seeking to challenge him in 2027, the gap in quality would be too wide to ignore.
“That is how politics is. When you put all the aspirants contesting against Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a scale, I don’t think the scale would even accept them,” he said in Hausa.
He went further, insisting that Tinubu’s political rivals do not possess even a fraction of what he described as the president’s qualities.
“We all know that none of the aspirants contesting against him are on his level when it comes to merit and quality; we don’t think any of them have even 10 percent of what Bola Tinubu possesses.”
Despite his strong assessment of the opposition, Yari acknowledged that other politicians have the constitutional right to contest and campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
He, however, vowed that the APC would intensify its efforts to secure another victory for Tinubu, while also urging party supporters to seek divine intervention.
“But it is right to contest and campaign. By God’s grace, we will work hard, and we will pray for God to give us victory, and we truly feel that God will grant it to us,” he said.
Yari also called on APC supporters to pray for Tinubu and Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to emerge victorious in their respective elections.
“May God permit them to complete the good work they have started for the people,” Yari said.
The APC campaign chief’s comments come as the political battle for 2027 gathers momentum, with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) among the opposition figures being mentioned as major contenders against Tinubu.
