Jennifer Hermoso’s brother, Rafa, has made a new claim about the 2024 Ballon d’Or controversy, alleging that Vinícius Júnior was initially told he would win the award before being informed that the decision had changed.
Rafa Hermoso reportedly shared the allegation on Instagram, claiming that Vinícius Júnior was given assurances ahead of the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony that he would be named the winner.
According to Rafa, Vinícius was even told that Jennifer Hermoso would be the person presenting him with the prestigious trophy on the night.
However, the situation allegedly changed later, with the Real Madrid star being informed that he would not receive the award.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri eventually won the 2024 Ballon d’Or, beating Vinícius to the honour.
The result generated widespread debate, with Real Madrid expressing its disappointment and Vinícius and other members of the club choosing not to attend the ceremony.
Rafa Hermoso’s latest comments have now reignited questions over what happened behind the scenes before the award was announced. The claim, however, has not been independently verified.
