The lawmaker representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, has delivered a 300KVA electricity transformer to Umubele Village in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, in an effort to address prolonged power supply challenges in the community.
The transformer, located at Eziudo Square in Umubele, was delivered on Monday, September 14, 2026, as part of Umeh’s constituency development initiatives aimed at improving critical infrastructure across Anambra Central.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, Senator Umeh said the intervention was intended to help improve electricity supply and support economic activities within the community.
He assured residents that technical crews would commence installation work promptly, adding that he would return in the coming days for the official commissioning and formal handover of the transformer.
The Anambra State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, accompanied the senator during the presentation.
Also present were the Chairman of NDC Awka Ward IV, Mr. Azuka Charles Agbata, and other party stakeholders.
Community leaders and residents expressed appreciation for the intervention, saying the area had endured prolonged power outages and unstable electricity supply, which they said had affected businesses, livelihoods and household activities.
The community representatives also commended Senator Umeh for what they described as active representation and commitment to constituency development.
They subsequently expressed support for his re-election bid as the NDC senatorial candidate for Anambra Central and pledged their support for other NDC candidates ahead of the January 2027 general elections.
The transformer is expected to boost electricity supply in the community once installation and commissioning are completed.
