The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a prominent Nsukka politician, Prince Ikechukwu Oloto, popularly known as “Okanga Mo.”

The 53 year old politician was reportedly found critically injured in a pool of blood at his residence in Odenigbo, Nsukka, on Thursday evening, September 17, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident on Friday, saying the Command received a report of the attack at about 5:45 p.m. on September 17.

According to the police, operatives who responded to the report found Oloto with deep suspected machete wounds to his head and stomach.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was subsequently pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

His remains have been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy as police investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

SP Ndukwe said an investigation into the incident is ongoing, while a manhunt has been launched for the suspected assailant or assailants.

Oloto, who hailed from Nsukka Local Government Area, was reportedly attacked inside his residence. However, the motive for the killing and the identity of those responsible have not been established.

The Police Command urged members of the public with credible information that could assist the investigation to make such information available to the authorities.

The incident has caused concern among residents as investigations continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the politician’s death.
