The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has honoured a retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, DST Anifa Bello Abiodun, with an Award of Recognition and cash support in recognition of her outstanding service to the Nigeria Police Force.

The presentation took place on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

IGP Disu commended the retired officer for her professionalism, discipline, resilience and dedication to duty during her years of service, particularly while serving under the Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, DST Anifa Bello Abiodun distinguished herself through her commitment to traffic management and her consistent efforts to serve members of the public.

The Force said her dedication earned her the goodwill and appreciation of residents and road users in communities where she served.

Speaking during the ceremony, IGP Disu stressed the importance of professional conduct in strengthening public confidence in the police.

He noted that while the Nigeria Police Force would continue to hold officers accountable for misconduct, personnel who demonstrate integrity, professionalism and exemplary service should also be recognised and rewarded.

The Inspector-General said recognising outstanding personnel would reinforce the standards expected of police officers and encourage others to distinguish themselves through dedication and responsible service.

The Nigeria Police Force further reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and the recognition of exemplary conduct among its personnel, noting that dedicated service remains essential to effective policing and stronger relations between the police and the public.

The presentation was announced by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, ANIPR, on September 17, 2026.
