The Niger Delta Development Commission has honoured the late pioneer Chairman of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, Chief Albert Horsfall, for his contributions to the development of the Niger Delta region.
The NDDC Governing Board Chairman, Chiedu Ebie, described Horsfall as a patriotic Nigerian whose contributions to the region and the country remained significant and enduring.
In a statement issued by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, stated that Ebie spoke on Friday during a condolence register signing in honour of the late OMPADEC chairman at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Ebie said Horsfall contributed significantly to the development of the Niger Delta and promoted the unity of Nigeria.
According to him, five panels that investigated Horsfall’s activities following the dissolution of OMPADEC cleared him of corruption allegations.
“Chief Horsfall was a great man,” Ebie said, adding that his contributions to the region and Nigeria would continue to be remembered.
The NDDC board chairman directed that the commission’s flags at its headquarters, offices in the nine Niger Delta states and the Abuja liaison office be flown at half-mast in honour of Horsfall.
