Nollywood crime thriller Black Market has reportedly attracted more than 51,000 movie lovers to a single screening at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, in what organisers describe as a new Guinness World Record.
The record breaking screening reportedly took place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as thousands of film enthusiasts gathered at the Lagos venue for the highly anticipated premiere.
The large turnout has generated excitement within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with the event being described by organisers as a significant milestone for Nollywood and the country’s film industry.
The screening brought together movie lovers and entertainment personalities for an outdoor cinematic experience, highlighting the growing popularity of Nigerian films and large scale entertainment events.
Organisers of the event said the attendance exceeded 51,000 people, leading to their claim that Black Market had set a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening in a single location.
However, the Guinness World Records recognition should be distinguished from the organisers’ claim until the record is independently confirmed and officially listed by Guinness World Records.
