Türkiye have officially ended their working relationship with Vincenzo Montella, bringing his spell as head coach of the national team to a close.

The Turkish Football Federation confirmed the decision on Friday, October 9, 2026, although it did not immediately disclose the reasons behind the move or name a replacement.

Montella took charge of Türkiye in September 2023 and led the team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, where their campaign ended against the Netherlands.

The Italian manager also played a key role in Türkiye’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending the country’s long wait to return to football’s biggest international competition.

However, his tenure has now come to an end following a disappointing run of results, with Türkiye suffering defeats in their opening four UEFA Nations League matches.

Montella’s departure leaves the national team searching for new leadership as preparations continue for their forthcoming international fixtures.

The federation is expected to provide further details about its plans for the coaching position in due course.
