Nigeria have dropped four places from 26th to 30th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, released on October 7, 2026.
The Super Eagles are now 6th in Africa, dropping out of the continent’s top five teams. Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire are ranked ahead of Nigeria.
The 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers played a big part in Nigeria’s decline, despite their 2-1 victory over Madagascar and a 3-3 draw against Russia.
In their last three matches, Nigeria recorded one win, one draw and one defeat.
Hopefully, the Super Eagles can improve their ranking during the November international window.
The next FIFA Men’s World Rankings update is scheduled for November 18, 2026.
