The Embassy of Nigeria in Hungary has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding educational opportunities for Nigerian youths following a high-level visit to the University of Dunaújváros (DUE) in Hungary.
The delegation, led by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, His Excellency Abasi Braimah Ogwime, visited the university on October 14, 2026, as part of the embassy’s ongoing school visitation programme and efforts to promote the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Scheme among Nigerian students.
The visit focused on exploring academic programmes, scholarship opportunities and support services available to Nigerian students interested in pursuing higher education at the Hungarian institution.
Ambassador Ogwime was accompanied by Dr. Erika Madarász, Social Secretary, and Daniel Etawo.
The delegation was received by key members of the university’s management, including Dr. Mónika Rajcsányi-Molnár, Vice-Rector for Institutional Development and General Affairs; Dr. László Balázs, Vice-Rector for Education; Kitti Szabó, Director of International Relations; József Fritz, Director of Strategic Relations; and Csaba Papp, Social Relations Officer.
During the engagement, university officials briefed the Nigerian delegation on the institution’s international degree programmes, the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Scheme and the support services provided to international students.
The discussions provided an opportunity for both parties to examine educational pathways that could enable more Nigerian students to access higher education and specialised training in Hungary.
Currently, 11 Nigerian students are enrolled at the University of Dunaújváros, with six benefiting from the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Scheme.
According to the information provided, most of the Nigerian students are studying Computer Engineering, while others are pursuing degrees in Business Administration and Management, as well as Communication and Media Science.
The delegation also toured the university’s facilities, including its laboratories, and interacted with lecturers and Nigerian students to gain first-hand knowledge of the institution’s academic environment and student experiences.

The engagements offered the ambassador and his team an opportunity to assess the university’s learning facilities and better understand the experiences of Nigerians studying there.
The visit forms part of the Nigerian Embassy’s broader efforts to connect Nigerian youths with international educational opportunities and increase awareness of scholarship programmes available to qualified applicants.
The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Scheme is an important avenue through which eligible international students can pursue higher education in Hungary, subject to the programme’s requirements and selection process.
By engaging directly with university management and Nigerian students, the embassy continues to explore opportunities that could strengthen educational cooperation and help more young Nigerians access international academic experiences.
The visit to the University of Dunaújváros underscores the importance of diplomatic engagement in promoting education, building institutional relationships and creating pathways for Nigerian students to pursue their academic ambitions abroad.
