The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Hungary, Ambassador Abasi Braimah, has assured Nigerian students at the University of Pécs of the Embassy’s commitment to improving their welfare and strengthening engagement with the Nigerian student community.
Braimah gave the assurance on Friday, October 30, 2026, when he hosted the leadership of the Nigerian Students’ Union, University of Pécs, alongside home-based staff of the Nigerian Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.
The delegation, led by the union’s newly elected executive members, visited the Embassy to formally introduce its leadership and explore opportunities for collaboration with the Nigerian diplomatic mission.
During the meeting, the student representatives highlighted issues affecting Nigerian students at the university and identified areas where the Embassy could provide support and assistance.
Responding, Ambassador Braimah assured the students that the Embassy remained committed to supporting Nigerians in Hungary and adding value to their academic and living experiences.
He encouraged the student leaders to freely communicate their concerns, ideas and suggestions to the Embassy, stressing the importance of sustained engagement between the diplomatic mission and the Nigerian student community.
The Ambassador also announced that the Embassy would undertake a working visit to the University of Pécs to further strengthen its relationship with the institution and engage directly with Nigerian students.
The University of Pécs, one of Hungary’s oldest higher institutions with a history spanning more than 200 years, is home to over 300 Nigerian students.
The engagement underscores the importance of diplomatic support, student representation and collaboration in promoting the welfare of Nigerians pursuing higher education abroad.
