Former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.), has called on Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027, arguing that another term would enable the administration to complete its ongoing projects and programmes.

Danjuma made the appeal during the 20th anniversary celebration and fundraising ceremony of the Adamawa State Government House Chapel in Yola on Saturday.

Represented by former Chief of Army Staff, General Ishaya Bamaiyi, the retired general maintained that Tinubu’s first tenure would not be sufficient to complete the projects initiated by his administration.

He also commended the President for appointing several Christians into government positions, describing the appointments as evidence of his fairness and religious tolerance.

Danjuma urged Nigerians, particularly those in the Middle Belt, to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

At the event, he pledged N250 million towards the proposed expansion of the Government House Chapel, saying the project would help ensure the facility remained functional for generations to come.

Speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, cautioned Nigerian youths against allowing desperate politicians to use them as instruments of violence and destruction during the electoral process.

Represented by Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Farauta George, she urged young people to promote peace and positive change, stressing the importance of responsible conduct before, during and after the 2027 elections.

The First Lady also called for the preservation of the chapel as a spiritual centre for Christians across denominations, encouraging its leadership and congregation to sustain its activities through prayers, worship and commitment to God.

She further urged residents to embrace their collective responsibility in building a peaceful and prosperous Adamawa State, regardless of religious, ethnic or political differences.

Former Governor Boni Haruna, who established the chapel during his administration, recalled that the facility was built in 2005 as part of the original architectural plan for the Government House complex.

He explained that the design made provision for both a mosque and a Christian chapel to reflect the principles of equity, fairness and religious inclusion.

Haruna expressed hope that the chapel would continue to promote religious tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that Adamawa belongs to all residents irrespective of their religious affiliations.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Chapel’s Board of Trustees, Mr Boss Mustapha, described the 20th anniversary as a celebration of two decades of faith, courage, perseverance, unity and God’s lasting faithfulness.

The ceremony was attended by Christian faithful and other dignitaries, who made financial contributions towards the proposed expansion of the chapel.
