Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, in an intriguing revelation, has hinted at a possible return to the helm of the national team, but with a caveat.

Oliseh, who steered the Eagles from July 2015 to February 2016, confessed to considering a comeback if certain conditions align.

“Right now, what I can say is that I am going to put my wildcard on this question.

“As I have also often said, if Nigeria needs my services, I will always help my country if the right conditions are met,” the former Super Eagles’ midfield maestro told Channels Television Sports.

Despite a tumultuous tenure marked by clashes with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and senior players, the ex-Ajax star remains open to the prospect.

MUK TV recalls that in an interview two months ago, former Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel Obi, labeled Oliseh as the worst coach he has ever played under, accusing him of disuniting the team with his power play antics.

“I remember the first day he came into the camp. Then we reported to the camp for International duties, then he came straight at me and Vincent Enyeama, the goalkeeper, who also was very powerful back then, He came straight at us and Elderson Echiejile, and he said a few things. He said he heard there was a lot of player power with us,” Mikel said.

Amidst the hunt for a successor to departed coach Jose Peseiro, Oliseh’s name has surfaced as a potential replacement.

Addressing his potential return, Oliseh remained coy but asserted his willingness to serve if the “right conditions” materialize.

Meanwhile, the NFF has kickstarted the search for Peseiro’s replacement ahead of critical World Cup qualifiers, with applications flooding in ahead of the March 12 deadline.

Former Tanzania coach Emmanuel Amuneke emerges as a frontrunner, with the new appointee tasked with navigating the Eagles through pivotal qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.

With Nigeria battling to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup, the stakes are high as the nation awaits its next leader to guide them to footballing glory.
