Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has pledged to restore peace in Nigeria’s South-East region swiftly upon his release.
Following the dismissal of his bail application by the Federal High Court in Abuja, Kanu reaffirmed his commitment to peace during a statement on Tuesday. He remains detained since June 29, 2021, facing treasonable felony charges.
Having previously been granted bail by Trial Justice Nyako and subsequently re-arrested, Kanu’s legal battle has been tumultuous. Despite court rulings favoring his release, legal hurdles persist.
In response to the latest setback, Kanu expressed frustration, asserting his ability to bring peace swiftly upon his freedom.
“They know me very well. I suspect that people in government are complicit. They are making money with insecurity. If they know Nnamdi Kanu is outside in two minutes, this nonsense will stop,” Kanu declared.
Asserting his authority, Kanu challenged any opposing voices: “Who is the idiot?… that will speak when I am talking. Who is the fool? Who is the idiot I ask? That I will give an order in the east and any idiot will counter it, who is the bastard I am asking you?”
With confidence, he concluded, “Nobody can. I am Nnamdi Kanu. Who is the idiot? Let me come out of this nonsense, this mess, two minutes only. Only two minutes, I guarantee you, and there will be peace in the east. Everywhere in the South-East, if not the entire South.”
