Gunmen dressed in military uniform stormed the residence of Sobomabo Jackrich, the Rivers State governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement in the 2023 general election, in Usokun, Degema Local Government Area.

Tragically, two of his loyalists were fatally shot during the raid, and both their bodies and Jackrich were taken by the assailants.

Jackrich, also known as ‘Egberipapa,’ a former militant leader turned political figure, was forcefully taken from his home.

His media aide, Soibibo Sokari, confirmed the grim events to Vanguard, saying, “Yes it is true he was abducted this morning. Two persons were killed, and their bodies were carted away along with him.”

Although the perpetrators remain unidentified, speculations arise regarding the involvement of the military, with one anonymous source suggesting their culpability, alleging, “His residence was cordoned off.”

While the military remained silent, the state police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, offered a contradictory narrative, asserting, “It is not a kidnapping. He is with some security personnel.”

The conflicting reports only add to the mystery surrounding Jackrich’s disappearance, leaving the public eager for answers.
