Senate President Godswill Akpabio has launched an early campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term, demonstrating robust support for the president only 11 months into his first term.

At a gathering of state governors and federal lawmakers in Lagos, Akpabio was assertive in his endorsement during the Sallah festivities at the President’s residence.

“As you coast home to victory for a second term, may all the governors seated here also coast home to a second term victory in their states,” Akpabio declared, amplifying the call for Tinubu’s continuity in the presidency.

The event, marked by the presence of 27 state governors and top legislative figures, highlighted the administration’s aspirations and achievements under Tinubu’s stewardship.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking for President Tinubu, stressed the need for unity and progress.

“Let us unite, rally around our leader, and catapult this nation to a greater pedestal,” he advocated, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s economic recovery.

Shettima further praised the assembly of diverse leaders, underscoring Tinubu’s role in bridging divides and steering economic revitalization.

“The future of the black man rests on Nigeria to make or mar. Our economy has turned the corner. By the coming months, the economy will roar back to glory,” he predicted.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, also the chair of the Nigeria Governors Forum, commended President Tinubu’s economic policies, noting tangible improvements in the national economy.

“We commend your efforts because the ship is gradually turning. We have seen how the exchange rate of the naira against the dollar is coming down. The cost of food is coming down. The dry season harvest is commencing soon. Things are getting better, and there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

AbdulRazaq also acknowledged federal support in mitigating food shortages across states.

“We are here to support you, and we also thank you for the support that you are giving to the sub-nationals. Trucks are wheeling up across the nation, distributing grains. I have received, and most of the states have,” he explained, highlighting the positive impact on food availability and prices.
