Presiding Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel International, has delivered a stern warning to internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Boys,” cautioning them about their bleak future.
Deriving its name from the Yahoo e-mail service, the term “Yahoo Boy” is often used to describe young men involved in various forms of internet fraud, including advanced fee fraud and scams.
Speaking at a service in Canaanland on Sunday, Bishop Oyedepo urged youths to adhere to the law and steer clear of fraudulent activities.
He denounced those who defraud others, emphasizing that their actions would ultimately lead to bitterness and ruin.
“No one indulging in deceitful practices has a promising future. Listen to this and remember it well. If that is your line of work, cease it.
“Yahoo Yahoo business, stop it. Grabbing people’s ATM card details, stop it! You are on a very fast lane that always ends in bitterness and destruction.
“There is the law to mind. The law of sowing and reaping. The law of seedtime and harvest. The law of giving and receiving that is the law.
“Engage with that law cheerfully. Engage with that law willingly. Engage with that law tirelessly and watch how you begin to lay up gold with time,” he urged.
Bishop Oyedepo joins the ranks of clerics denouncing internet fraudsters, following in the footsteps of Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, who in a 2022 sermon, labeled “Yahoo Boys” as nothing but thieves.
He emphasized that these individuals would find no peace as they are stealing from others.
