Murjanatu Zubairu, a 400-level female student of the University of Abuja, who was declared missing on Friday, has been discovered deceased following a fatal car accident along the Lugbe – Airport Road in Abuja.

Zubairu, a student in the Department of Arts Education within the university’s Faculty of Education, left for school on Friday, but her whereabouts remained unknown until Monday.

Confirming the devastating news in a telephone conversation with Daily Trust late Monday, her uncle, Zubairu Yewuti, a former vice-chairman of Kwali Area Council in the FCT, expressed, “The family of Murja called me in the afternoon and they confirmed that she died in an accident that occurred along the Lugbe – Airport Road last Friday.”

Yewuti further revealed that the family had made arrangements to retrieve Zubairu’s body from the morgue at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital for a proper burial.

The fatal accident, which took place on Friday at 8:34 p.m., involved a Toyota Sharon bus near the Dunamis Church along the Airport Road.

The bus, reportedly traveling at high speed, suddenly caught fire, claiming the lives of four individuals, including a female.

Commander Sunday Ajokotola, Lugbe Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, recounted, “Before our rescue team arrived at the scene, six people among the 10 inside the bus that sustained burns were rescued by the Airforce personnel, who were treated in their hospital.”

Efforts to locate Zubairu were unsuccessful, prompting her family to report her missing to both the university management and security agencies, appealing to the public to notify the nearest police station if she was found.

SP Adeh Josephine, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, assured Daily Trust, “I will find and then get back to you later,” when contacted for further information.
