Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has appointed himself as the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Physical Planning, as part of his decisions to root out corruption and inefficiency.
The announcement came during the inauguration of new commissioners at the Government House in Owerri, with Modestus Nwamkpa confirming the news via Facebook, Sahara Reporters reported.
Governor Uzodimma justified his self-appointment citing the need to prevent corruption scandals, recalling the suspension of former Commissioner Noble Atulegwu in November 2023 over alleged land grabbing.
Following Atulegwu’s suspension, the governor ordered his arrest and detention for over 40 days, marking a tough stance against corruption within the administration.
