The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Abia State Chapter has refuted claims of agreeing with the State Government to waive outstanding pensions and gratuities.
In a statement following an enlarged State Council meeting in Umuahia, the Union asserted its lack of authority to waive retirees’ entitlements and urged the government to remove such provisions from the Memorandum of Agreement.
As reported by Magic FM, this was according a statement signed by the Union’s Chairman, Chukwuemeka Irondi and State Secretary, Uma Kalu.
