Former Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor, accuses Governor Siminalayi Fubara of hindering reconciliation efforts with predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
“He (Fubara) is not the person people think he is, he is not a peacemaker,” a furious Adangor declared on Thursday.
Adangor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, revealed he resigned from Fubara’s cabinet in April for refusing to challenge the validity of the Presidential Peace Pact by President Bola Tinubu, aimed at resolving the feud between Fubara and Wike.
Adangor stated his ordeal began on December 18, 2023, post the Presidential Peace Pact in Abuja, when Fubara redeployed him from the justice ministry to the Ministry of Special Duties without consultation.
According to Adangor, his redeployment stemmed from his insistence on upholding the rule of law, prompting his resignation.
He dismissed Fubara’s claims of sabotage during his tenure, affirming his loyalty to Wike.
“Politically, I am loyal to Wike, there is no doubt about that,” Adangor affirmed.
Regarding his loyalty while working for Fubara, Adangor clarified, “I never applied to work for Governor Fubara; I was invited to serve under him.”
He criticized Fubara’s lack of genuine commitment to resolving the feud, citing instances of obstructive actions against him.
“I will give you two instances to show that he (Fubara) is not the person people think he is, he is not a peacemaker,” Adangor explained.
He revealed Fubara’s refusal to allow his return to Rivers State University and the governor’s reluctance to sign the establishment warrant for a customary court in Adangor’s local community.
