Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has revealed a staggering debt burden left behind by the previous administration of Nyesom Wike, highlighting that many commissioned projects lacked full funding.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road, popularly known as Old Bori Road in Eleme Local Government Area, Governor Fubara voiced concerns about contractors seeking outstanding payments, as reported by Channels Television.

Although Governor Fubara refrained from disclosing the exact debt figure, he emphasized the necessity of speaking out against mounting pressures from political adversaries.

He pledged to accompany future project commissions with a “white paper” detailing funding sources, aiming for transparency in governance.

Governor Fubara asserted his administration’s cooperation with the federal government, despite ongoing challenges fueled by internal interests.

The presence of Governor Alex Otti at the commissioning was hailed as a gesture of solidarity with progressive forces, with Otti commending Fubara’s leadership style as true service to the people.

Otti, drawing from his experience serving under past administrations, expressed confidence in Governor Fubara’s resilience amidst political turbulence in Rivers State, affirming that true power lies in divine providence.

The reconstruction of the Old Bori Road promises a much-needed alternative route for the dilapidated Eleme axis of the East West road, marking a significant infrastructural advancement.
