A 60-year-old man, identified only as Christian, has been arrested by the police in Aba for raping an 8-year-old girl in Umuodukwu village, Obingwa council area of Abia State.
Speaking to Vanguard, community sources revealed that the sexagenarian had raped the young girl, known as Miss Princess, three times this year before being caught in the act.
Hon. Prince Ndubueze, the head of Umuonyero kindred in Umuodukwu Village, narrated how the suspect, who is a tenant in the village, was apprehended by local youths and handed over to the police.
Ndubueze stated, “The suspect is a tenant in Umuodukwu village. He is married. The youths caught him while he was raping an 8-year-old girl at about 11 pm. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime, that it was the third time he was raping the 8-year-old girl. We also discovered that he committed the same offence four years ago while he was living in his former residence near the village. He is a serial rapist. We handed him over to the police in Aba.”
Abia Police spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, promised to provide further details but had not done so at the time of filing this report.
