The Senate, on Wednesday, announced the immediate removal of Senator Mohamed Ali Ndume (Borno South) as Chief Whip.
During the plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the decision to a voice vote, with members of the APC Senate Caucus endorsing Ndume’s removal.
Ndume was replaced by Tahir Mungono (Borno North).
This decision follows Ndume’s recent criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
Daily Trust reports that in a letter addressed to the Senate Caucus, the national leadership of the ruling party, APC, requested Ndume to resign his membership and join an opposition party of his choice.
The letter was signed by the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Bashiru.
