Florence Otedola, a Nigerian disc jockey, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has ignited a wave of reactions on social media with her response to the ongoing protests across the country.
Since August 1, 2024, Nigerians have taken to the streets nationwide to express their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.
The demonstrations have gained strong momentum, drawing attention from numerous celebrities voicing their opinions online.
In a tweet on her X page, DJ Cuppy, who is the daughter of a billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, offered prayers for a peaceful Nigeria, urging divine guidance for the country’s leaders to protect its citizens.
She wrote, “Dear Lord, please bless Nigeria with peace, unity, and prosperity. Guide our leaders and protect our people. Let your love and grace fill our nation. Amen. 🇳🇬 #IJN.”
While some netizens appreciated her sentiments, the statement did not sit well with others.
@ChuksOhaxx commented, “Amen, but I no wan hear say you wan come do DJ anywhere around the protest ground.”
@Feroblogger1 simply responded, “Amen.”
@Oladapomikky1 criticized, “Your mates are on the street protesting, but you are somewhere in London or Paris capping and playing sympathy game.”
@orcabi_ remarked, “Sometimes it’s very difficult to support some of you. You did this same thing in 2020, stood inside your father’s house holding a sign in the rain. Now you’re doing it again. If you don’t say anything, I promise no one will hold you.”
@xandrazion echoed, “Amen.”
@spoiltkid advised, “Hello @cuppymusic. I advise you to keep quiet if you can’t join the protest. Nigeria is blessed already but held back by criminals masquerading as leaders. We have abundance of natural resources. We don’t have any known natural disaster. This should tell you Nigeria is blessed. Just keep quiet if you can’t join the protest.”
