Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Hon. Zacheous Dare Michael, Chairman of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Authority transition committee in Kogi State, along with some of his aides.
The incident occurred late Friday along the Kabba-Okene expressway while Michael and his entourage were returning from meetings in Lokoja.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Aya, stated, “Police-Military team with the assistance of local vigilantes are tracking the hoodlums’ hideout to rescue the victims unhurt.”
According to sources, the assailants, heavily armed and numerous, ambushed the convoy, firing repeatedly.
In the ensuing chaos, the gunmen overpowered Michael’s security details and successfully abducted him and other members of his entourage.
