Nobel Laureate winner in Literature Prof. Wole Soyinka has revealed alot of things about him as he granted an interview on CNN African Voices Platform in Abeokuta.
When asked why he sent his water back he said ‘Water takes up space, actually it belongs to other commodities so i am not keen on water, i avoid water as much as possible i prefer a good robust wine that either sends me to sleep right away or inspires me to work. You never know which way it will work!! he said.
Larry Madowo further inquired how his writing has changed in the face of new technologies and devices instead of the old typewriters … professor blurted out ”I no longer can write on a piece of paper except maybe scraps of poetry”.
He said he moved from his father’s Remington typewriters to machines that now talked back at him but he quickly instructs the machine to shut up he is the one doing the writing and to stop correcting his writings!!
He further expressed his not concerned about getting up to speed with trending events because it gets too much at times to keep up
he said ” you don’t make an attempt to keep up with everything because after a while, i mean it gets too much” next thing you have a machine talking back at you I said ‘shut up i am the one doing the writing…correcting my writing ‘what kind of nonsense is that??
I don’t do TikTok and I don’t try to keep up with everything!!
when asked about how he gets his ideas he said My space is total isolation. I get my ideas in isolation, it can be anywhere even on a a plane as long as no one is talking to me he said.
