The Nigeria Police Force has initiated an investigation into the unauthorized use of its official uniform by social commentator Very Dark Man (VDM), following the circulation of a viral video showing him dressed as a police officer. In the video, he refers to himself as “CSP Very Dark Man,” claiming to be the “number one online police.
In a statement issued on October 26, the police force condemned the act, emphasizing that such unauthorized use of police uniforms and insignia is unacceptable. The statement clarified that a thorough investigation has been launched to identify the source of the police gear and the circumstances under which VDM obtained and wore the uniform.
The police further reminded the public that the unauthorized use of police uniforms, insignia, or accoutrements is a criminal offense under Section 251 of the Criminal Code Law and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law, which carry severe penalties for offenders. The investigation aims to uphold the integrity of the police force and ensure accountability in such matters.
