Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has said it would be disastrous should Nigeria fail to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Super Eagles languish second from bottom of the World Cup qualifying group with three points from four matches, four points behind front runners Rwanda, South Africa and Benin.

Africa could be represented by as many as 10 countries at the next World Cup, we’re at the risk of not being one of these countries and it will be a disaster if Nigeria do not qualify,” Oliseh said on Monday Night Football on Supersport TV.

I was at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for six weeks working on the FIFA study Group and it was painful that Nigeria were not there.

Oliseh played at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.

The 2026 World Cup qualifying series will resume in March.
