The Lagos chapter of the Middle Belt Youths has officially endorsed Seyi Tinubu, calling on him to run for Lagos State governor in 2027 to sustain and build upon the legacy of his father, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During a press conference on Thursday at Eko Hotel, Lagos, the group praised Seyi Tinubu’s inclusive leadership style, which they believe positions him as the ideal candidate to unite the diverse communities in Lagos.
Vanguard reports that Dr. Stanley Augustine Kavwam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, and Capt. Brent Kane, the Forum’s National Youth Leader, lauded Seyi’s contributions to youth empowerment and national integration, citing his dedication to fostering harmony across tribes and religions.
“Who else will the people in Lagos support if Seyi Tinubu accepts to run for the highest office in Lagos State? Seyi knows no tribe, no religion, and no gender. He believes in all people irrespective of their tribe and religion,” the group stated.
They further argued that his marriage to a Southeastern woman as a testament to his detribalized nature and praised his swift response to crises like the Borno flood, where he mobilized resources and provided significant aid.
“His limitless link to other tribes makes it possible for us to adjudge him as one of the most detribalized young persons in Nigeria currently. He will surely address the tribal sentiments and grudges many of us bear in Lagos,” they added.
The group also noted his inclusive office environment, where individuals from all tribes and religions are represented, and his track record of empowering youths of diverse backgrounds.
“We wish to state that the Lagos chapter of the Middle-Belt Youths received the nod of the national body in Abuja to go ahead with this endorsement having evaluated the effort of Mr. Seyi Tinubu towards national integration and youth activism,” they said.
Concluding, they called on Seyi Tinubu to step forward for leadership, stating: “Consequently, we call on Mr. Seyi Tinubu to get ready to put on the leadership toga come 2027. It is now or never!”
