The Arewa for Justice Assembly has strongly condemned the re-arrest and detention of Bello Badejo, leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, by the Nigerian military.
Badejo, who has been battling serious health issues, was reportedly seized from his cattle farm despite earlier being detained for six months without charges and declared innocent.
His detention has sparked outrage over alleged human rights violations and disregard for the rule of law.
In a statement signed by Comrade Musa Garba Yola, leader of the Arewa for Justice Assembly, the group described the military’s actions as unjust, unconstitutional, and inhumane.
They criticized the Nigerian military for inflicting trauma on Badejo’s family and tarnishing the country’s image both locally and internationally.
The Arewa group emphasized that his re-arrest, despite his fragile condition, is a flagrant violation of constitutional provisions and a betrayal of justice and fairness.
The groupdemanded Badejo’s immediate and unconditional release, urging relevant authorities and stakeholders to intervene and ensure justice.
It also highlighted the broader implications of such actions on Nigeria’s democratic principles, warning that they undermine public trust in the military and legal systems.
The Arewa for Justice Assembly called for a renewed commitment to the rule of law and insisted that the rights of citizens, including those in Northern Nigeria, must be respected to uphold Nigeria’s democratic values.
