Senate President Godswill Akpabio has disclosed that he spent the night inside the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the wedding day of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Speaking during plenary at the National Assembly on Thursday, Akpabio, a former Akwa Ibom governor, described Natasha’s husband as a close friend, noting that his presence at their wedding reflected their strong bond.

He said, “I slept in Dangote cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State on the night of Senator Natasha’s wedding because the Kogi airport lights were in a poor state.”

Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions had recommended a six-month suspension for the Kogi lawmaker over alleged misconduct. The committee also demanded that she apologise to the Senate for ‘disrespecting the Senate.’

As part of the suspension, the committee stated that her salary and security details would be withdrawn, and she would be barred from the National Assembly premises for the duration of the penalty.

The Senate adopted the committee’s recommendation, with Akpabio announcing Senator Natasha’s suspension during the plenary.
