The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 20-year-old Rukayyah Amadu for allegedly killing her 30-year-old co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, by pouring hot water on her.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the tragic incident occurred on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area, following a misunderstanding between the two women.

“Asiyah Amadu sustained severe burns and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on March 4, 2025, at about 0900hrs,” Adam stated.

Rukayyah Amadu has since been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.

“During interrogation, Rukayyah confessed to the crime. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he added.

In a separate incident, 22-year-old newlywed Zainab Ibrahim was discovered unconscious in a pool of blood at her matrimonial home in Warware Quarters, Hadejia LGA.

“The Hadejia Divisional Police Officer led a team to the scene, where they found a deep cut on her throat.

Zainab was rushed to General Hospital Hadejia, where she was pronounced dead,” Adam said.

The police have launched a manhunt for those responsible for the gruesome murder.

Meanwhile, in another horrifying discovery, the mutilated, headless body of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, was found along Jikas-Dabaja village, Gwaram LGA.

Relatives identified the corpse and reported that Bashir had been missing for two days.

“The police suspect that Bashir was killed by ritualists. An investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators,” the statement added.

The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public of a thorough investigation into these tragic incidents, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
