A powerful explosion has struck the Trans-Niger Pipeline at Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, igniting a raging fire at the affected section.
The cause of the blast remains unknown, but authorities are investigating whether it resulted from sabotage, particularly amid threats by militant groups targeting oil installations over the Federal Government’s withholding of Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis.
The incident, which occurred on Monday night, disrupted operations along the critical export pipeline that channels crude to the Bonny Terminal.
As at the time of this news report, officials have yet to confirm the extent of the damage or potential casualties.
